Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Or, a fess wavy Gules cottised Azure, overall two piles one reversed of the second counterchanged Argent charged with a fleur-de-lis of the third.  Attached below the shield a three segmented Gold scroll inscribed "SUPPORT" on the dexter segment, "TO" on the center segment and "VICTORY" on the sinister segment in Black letters.

Symbolism
The triangular segments indicative of support are joined at the center and spread outward to denote the Support Battalion's control of logistical operations, its consolidation and dissemination of information, and provision of advice on supply and maintenance for the Brigade.  The honors awarded to elements of the Battalion are represented as follows:  The fleur-de-lis is for the European Theater, and the blue wavy bars for the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, World War II; the white peaked area, which alludes to Alaskan glaciers, refers to the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Alcan Highway.  The red wavy bar signifies the Red River and, together with the central area, connotes Alexandria, Louisiana, the "Hub City," where the Battalion organized.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 11 April 1969.

That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Louisiana Army National Guard:  On a wreath of the colors Or and Gules, a pelican in her piety affront with three young in nest, Argent armed and vulned Proper.
